This article covers councillors of the City of Camberwell, Town of Camberwell and Borough of Camberwell, who made up the Council that governed each incarnation of the municipality. In 1993, all councillors were suspended and replace by appointed commissioners.
Powers and duties
Selection process
Remuneration
At the time of the council's sacking in 1993, councillors were paid an allowance of $1,500 per annum, not including other allowances (e.g. travel).[1]
Councillors by ward
For councillors and administrators after the 1994 amalgamation, see Councillors of Boroondara Council.
1993 to 1994
During this period, following the dismissal of all councillors at the City of Camberwell, the Victorian Government appointed Des Bethke as administrator to run the council in their absence.[2]
1934 to 1993
In 1934, the Council applied to the Victorian Government to create an extra ward after a lengthy process and many attempts.[3] This resulted in North Ward being split into North East Ward and North West Ward. As part of the reforms, all sitting councillors were required to retire and nominate themselves for re-election if they wished to do so.[4][5]
1905 to 1934
During this time period, the municipality consisted of only three wards with three councillors in each. Elections were conducted every three years, with one of each ward's three councillor positions eligible for election.
