The 2016 Boroondara council election was held in October 2016.[1]

Key dates

As per the Local Government Act 1989, general council elections are held on the fourth Saturday of October every four years. Postal elections, such as those held in Boroondara, actually commence three weeks prior to polling day when ballot mailouts begin.

  • 26 August: Enrolment closes
  • 15 September: Nominations open
  • 20 September: Nominations close (12pm)
  • 23 September: Candidate indication of preferences due (12pm)
  • 4 - 6 October: Ballot packs mailed
  • 21 October: Voting closes (6pm)[1]
