The North Camberwell Progress Association, also known as the Camberwell North Progress Association, (ca. 1923 - ca. 1945) was a community group set up to advocate for resident interests in the northern areas of the City of Camberwell, including Balwyn and Balwyn North.
History
The first available record of its activities is in May 1923.[1]
The last available record of its activities is in May 1945.[2]
Activities
The Association met monthly.[3] It took up positions to advocate to various bodies on topics of municipal and local importance. These included:
- Increasing the frequency of trams to Balwyn North[3]
- Opposition to proposed changes to building by-laws to allow the construction of flats and other residential dwellings on smaller lot sizes in 1941[4]
