Can be used for places at any level. There may be more specific templates for some types of places, e.g. Template:Infobox council.

Usage

To use this template

  1. Copy the relevant blank template from into the beginning of your document, remembering to put the code at the very top of the article and the first word of the article on the very next line.
  2. Enter values for the fields as outlined in the table below. Fields left blank will automatically be hidden.
  3. Preview.
  4. Save the page with an appropriate edit summary.

Both type and state are required parameters. All other parameters used by this template are optional. The following are available:

type infobox type Sets up the template for a specific type of locality. Should be set to other when the place is not one of the defined types. "city", "suburb", "town", "lga", "region", "cadastral", "protected" or "other"
name name of place If this field does not exist, the template will use the name of the article. If the field exists, but the place name is not defined, the infobox title will be blank. plain text
city city name suburb See wikipedia:List of cities in Australia.In some cases it may be desirable to include the name of a non-city here. In the case of BoroondaraWiki, choose 'Melbourne'. plain text, may be linked.
state state abbreviation Abbreviation for the state. For consistency, lower case is preferred, but upper case may be used. When a state code is not applicable, "au" should be used, although the field may be left blank. "qld", "nsw", "act", "vic", "tas", "sa", "wa", "nt", or use "au" for Australia – plain text, do not link
iucn_category IUCN category protected area This field should be populated with the IUCN category associated with the protected area. Although optional, use of this field is strongly recommended.
