Can be used for places at any level. There may be more specific templates for some types of places, e.g. Template:Infobox council.

Usage

To use this template

1. Copy the relevant blank template from into the beginning of your document, remembering to put the code at the very top of the article and the first word of the article on the very next line.
2. Enter values for the fields as outlined in the table below. Fields left blank will automatically be hidden.
3. Preview.
4. Save the page with an appropriate edit summary.

Parameters

Both type and state are required parameters. All other parameters used by this template are optional. The following are available:

state	state abbreviation		Abbreviation for the state. For consistency, lower case is preferred, but upper case may be used. When a state code is not applicable, "au" should be used, although the field may be left blank.
