Geoff Hayes was the councillor representing Cotham Ward on Boroondara City Council for eight years, and on Ballarat City Council for three, resigning in early 2008.[2][4] He also served as Boroondara's first mayor from 1996 - 1997.[5] He unsuccessfully stood at subsequent Boroondara elections in 2012 and as a Liberal candidate for the state division of Ballarat East in 2006.[6]
