Purpose
WikiVic was founded to be a central repository of the history of Victoria, Australia. While websites like Wikipedia fulfill an important role, topics of local significance are often not covered. This is mainly due to notability guidelines that only allow better-known or better-cited topics to be included.
This is why resources like WikiVic are needed.
Funding
WikiVic is entirely self-funded. I do not want this site reliant on external factors beyond my control. Similar projects have failed due to lack of funding or active support people.
A word about 'notability'
How you can help
The best way you can help at this stage is to contribute to the wiki. Wikis work best when people work together rather than a solo project for something like this.
