First elected to the Boroondara District Roads Board in 1864. Served as chairman of the board for all four years of his time as a member from 1864 to 1868.[1]
Resigned in November 1868, triggering a by-election in December 1868.[2] He published a letter in the local South Bourke Standard in the same issue, defending his record as chairman from what "attacks made...in ignorance by a political party".[3]
