- 1848 – Frederick Traugott Fankhauser was born in Erdmannsdorf, Silesia, Prussia. He was a member of one of the first pioneer families in the area and later built the Fankhauser Farmhouse at 224 Belmore Road, Balwyn and ran the Balwyn Nursery.
