The ward was formed from the division of [[North Ward]] into two in 1934, with the second half becoming [[North West Ward]]. Each ward elected three [[Councillors of Camberwell Council|councillors]] each on rotating three year terms. It covered parts of [[Balwyn]], [[Balwyn North]], [[Mont Albert]] and [[Surrey Hills]].
